The modern world makes voyeurs of us all
We watch with baked breath and sweet delight
The poor man’s catumly, the great mans’ fall
And gawk at googaws Googled in the night.
We Facebook, Myspace, network with the Droid
Wikipedia the stars with vague surmise -
Blog, twitter and successfully avoid
The looming imminence of our demise.
And thus transfixed by glowing etherbent,
With toys that light up brightly and go ding,
Do we seek wonders in the firmament,
Yet never fathom why the caged bird sings.
Oh Lord, we DIGG the zenith of the sun
And yet we know not what we shall become.
